The project “Technical Assistance for the Arda River Waters Quality Management”, carried out from December 2005 to June 2007, ensures expert and technical assistance for management of the quality of waters in the Arda river basin, in cooperation with the Kardzhali municipality, and is managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. It is aimed at supporting the integrated management and prevention of pollution in the river basin, by establishing business partnership between interested parties from Bulgaria and Greece and ensuring technical assistance in evaluation of the Arda river condition and drawing recommendations for improvement of the systems for monitoring based on the principles of the European Waters Framework Directive /WFD/.
